9' Classic Dinghy

Jan. 4, 2000

Dear John:

I'm enclosing a couple of photos of our nine foot Classic Dinghy. Obviously, Heffley Lake, where my building partner Bill Friesen and I live, is slightly frozen and will remain that way until mid-April.

Bill and I built it for old school friends of ours that live on Saltspring Island, in the Gulf Islands. Marianne is going to use it with her two springer spaniels. Hence the dark green Interlux polyurethane paint. They also live on a barnacle covered beach so we used it on the outside of the hull below the water line as well. (I covered the hull of my Chesapeake Light Craft sea kayak with it and was very pleased with its abrasion resistance.)

Her name will be "Skye" after the island in Scotland where her folks grew up.

I would like to thank you for your prompt and helpful advice to my internet messages. Your instruction manual and plans were particularly easy to follow.

Yours truly
Ian
